Weatherization

The Weatherization unit of the Community Services and Economic Development Department exists for the express purpose of supplying low- and moderate-income resident homeowners with services customized to meet various housing needs such as:

  1. Weatherization – weatherstripping, door sweeps, hot water tank jackets, caulking, window glass repairs, plus insulation and other weatherization aids as needed to eliminate energy loss throughout the home.
  2. Dead Bolt Lock Program – provides free installation of Police-approved dead bolt locks purchased by the homeowner.
  3. Operation Overcoat – a paint program for aluminum-sided homes.
  4. Smoke Alarm Program - provides free installation of approved smoke alarms.
  5. Vinyl Siding – free materials and installation for qualified homeowners with wood-frame homes.
  6. Handicapped Services – free handicapped ramp construction and installation of handrails and grab bars to aid physically challenged homeowners have a higher degree of independence and safety.
