Highland Rd. Bridge Construction Project

We were informed this afternoon that the bridges being repaired on Highland Rd. between Euclid Ave. and the entrance to Euclid Creek Park are in worse condition than initially thought by the contractor. We were warned that our ambulances and fire apparatus are too heavy to travel across the bridges. They range in weight from 15,000 lbs. to 80,000 lbs. As a worst-case scenario, ignoring the warning could result in a bridge collapse. This notification forced us to make alternative plans to protect you and your property. It also means excessive response times as we must take a detour that will add at least 10 minutes to our normal response.

A contingency plan has been created that will bring resources from Richmond Heights FD, Highland Heights FD, and South Euclid FD for building fires or reports of smoke and/or flames within a building. For those needing an ambulance, Richmond Heights FD will respond for now and should arrive first. We will also be responding to any call for service, but our arrival will take extra time. The Euclid streets that this plan would cover include:
1. Helmsdale Dr.
2. Carrbridge Dr.
3. Aberdeen Dr.
4. Apple Dr.
5. Samuel Dr.
6. Brandywine Dr.
7. Harms Rd. (not to be confused with Arms Ave.)
8. Georgetown Sq.
9. Lexington Sq.
10. Brandywine Sq. (not to be confused with #6)
11. Charleston Sq.
12. Trenton Sq.
13. Richmond Sq.
14. Washington Sq.
15. Georgetown Rd.
16. Hilltop Rd.
17. View Dr.
18. Greenbriar Ct.
19. Trevitt Circle North
20. Trevitt Circle South
21. Trevitt Circle West (Trevitt Circe East does not exist)
22. Katey Rose Ln.
23. Euclid Creek Parkway

At this time, we cannot provide an answer of how long this will be in effect. We take your safety very seriously and will offer information as it becomes available.
