Alzheimer's Support Group -- The Alzheimer's Association along with Senior Programs sponsor a support group for caregivers of Alzheimer's victims. The support group meets at 1:00 p.m. the fourth Monday of the month at Lakefront Community Center.
Blood Pressure Screening -- Free blood pressure screenings are available once a month. The screenings are held the first Friday of the month at Lakefront Community Center from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
Chore Service -- Residents 60+ may receive limited assistance with such non-skilled chores as: bush trimming, gutter cleaning, window, floor and wall washing, bed making, stove/refrigerator cleaning, etc. Call (216) 289-2985, Chore Service Coordinator, for information. Suggested donations of $4.00 to $7.00 per hour a visit. This service is available to both home owners and apartment dwellers alike.
Community Information & Resources -- Offers information and resources about a wide variety of social service problems and concerns. Help for seniors as well as all age groups.
Domestic Violence / Victims Advocacy -- Provides help with crisis intervention, police and court advocacy, general shelter referrals, victin's compensation and education information. Click here for additional information.
Euclid Counseling Service -- Offers counseling services for a wide variety of problems in cooperation with the Center for Families and Children. (Eastern Shores Counseling Office).
Facess (Entitlement Screening Service) -- A program used to screen individuals for benefits, programs and services to which they are entitled. This service is performed on an appointment basis.
Flu Immunization -- Flu shots are given for a nominal fee each Fall by nurses from the Cuyahoga County Board of Health. Call in mid-September or check local media for actual dates and cost.
Health Screening -- Vision and Hearing screenings are available during the year. See newsletter for dates.
Home Delivered Meals -- The same lunch served at the Nutrition Center can be home delivered to homebound seniors who are too ill to prepare a meal for themselves or to come to the Center. The suggested donation is $1.00. If you are in need of a home delivered meal, call (216)289-2985 and ask to speak to a Social Worker.
Home Health Assessment -- Seniors unable to attend the Center for various screenings can receive a home visit from a Cuyahoga County Board of Health nurse. The nurse will discuss health problems with the senior's family and suggest additional resources should the health problems warrant.
Homemaker -- This service is designed to help Euclid Seniors who demonstrate a need and wish to remain independent and in their homes. Cases are assessed by a staff member of the Social Services Program. Tasks performed are light housekeeping, grocery shopping, laundry and limited errands assistance. Call for further information. Suggested donation is $7.00.
Income Tax Assistance -- Held at Lakefront Community Center during tax season and sponsored by volunteers from AARP. Services start the first Thursday in February and continue through the April tax season. Reservations may be made by calling the Center, or individuals may come in without an appointment and be serviced on a first come, first served basis.
Legal Aid-- The legal Aid Society offers legal advice and representation to senior citizens. Areas of specialty include social security, medicare, insurance, evictions, probate practice, age discrimination and consumer problems. Call for an Appointment (216) 289-2985.
Medical Insurance Assistance -- This service is provided by trained staff and volunteers at Lakefront Community Center by appointment only. Through our senior health insurance program, trained volunteers provides free counseling on Medicare, Medicare Supplements, Medicare HMO's Long Term Care Insurance, Medicaid, bills and claim sorting. By appointment only at Knuth on August 11th and August 25th. Call (216) 289-2985 for an appointment.
Outreach -- Outreach workers help identify needs, provide information and acquaint senior residents with the programs and services available. Outreach workers distribute literature throughout Euclid neighborhoods and explain senior services and programs.
They speak at senior clubs and organizations to further awareness of Euclid Senior Center. If you would like an Outreach worker to contact you or speak at a senior function, you are encouraged to call the Center.
Personal Care -- This service is designed to assist Euclid Seniors who demonstrate a need with their hygienic care. Cases are assessed by a Social Service staff member and a registered nurse. Tasks performed include assistance with bathing, shampooing and dressing.
Podiatrist (Foot Doctor) -- A podiatrist regularly visits the Center and provides routine foot care by appointment only. Ask for the current fee when making your appointment.
Senior Discount Programs -- Senior 60+ or handicapped presenting proper verification may apply at the Center for the Golden Buckeye Card. Those 65+ (disabled under 65) may apply for a CRT/RTA Bus Pass. Exemption forms for Homestead Tax, Home Heating and Water Rate Reduction are available when these programs are in place.
Social Worker -- Licensed Social Workers are available to provide seniors and their families with in-office and in-home assessments, consultations, information and referrals and problem-solving case planning. Call either Center for an appointment.
Special Projects -- The City of Euclid has Housing Rehabilitation programs for income eligible homeowners which include:
- Weatherization - will install weather-stripping, door sweeps, hot water tank jackets, caulking, some window glass, plus insulation and other weatherization aids to income eligible homeowners.
- Lock Program - will install police approved dead bolt locks for income eligible homeowners. Free labor is provided to install locks purchased by the homeowner.
- Operation Overcoat - will reimburse eligible Euclid homeowners up to $250 for the paint used to paint their homes. There is also a paint specialist available who can help with the selection of colors.
- Smoke Alarm Program - will provide cost free smoke alarm protection.
- Furnace Inspection & Cleaning Program - will provide to all weatherization recipients, a free furnace inspection and cleaning.
- Handicapped Services - will provide such services as ramp construction and handrail installation to physically disadvantaged.
- Home Handyman - will provide labor assistance for very low income homeowners for such problems as house painting, gutter repair, minor roof repair and masonry tuck pointing.
