Law Department


There are 11 total employees in the Law Department including the Law Director, Chief Prosecutor, 3 Asst Prosecutors/Asst Law Directors, 3 F/T support staff, 2 P/T support staff and the HR Manager. 

 

Per the Charter of the City of Euclid, the Director of Law “shall be the legal advisor of and attorney and counsel for the City, and shall advise, counsel, and prepare proposed legislation at the direction of any member of any board or commission of the City, in matters relating to their official duties. The Director shall prepare or direct the preparation of all contracts, bonds, and other instruments in writing in which the City is concerned and shall endorse on each his or her approval of the form and correctness thereof.” The Law Department handles negotiating the 10 Collective Bargaining Agreements; preparing legislation for approval by Euclid City Council; Employee benefits/FMLA/Workers Compensation; Employee issues/grievances/discipline/training; Approval of Contracts; Procuring Insurance; Handling Claims/Lawsuits, etc. The Law Department is not vested with the ability to provide legal advice to Euclid residents. The City of Euclid Prosecutor’s Office represents the City in the prosecution of misdemeanor traffic and criminal cases as well as violations of the City’s housing, building, zoning and fire codes. Additionally, the Prosecutors' Office meets with residents and reviews complaints to determine whether criminal charges are appropriate. The Prosecutors’ Office also handles felonies that are transferred to common pleas court, expungements, conducts hearings on parking tickets and assists the EPD with public records requests.

Prosecutors' Office
The City of Euclid Prosecutor’s Office represents the City in the prosecution of misdemeanor traffic and criminal cases as well as violations of the City’s housing, building, zoning and fire codes. Additionally, the Prosecutors' Office meets with residents and reviews complaints to determine whether criminal charges are appropriate.
