MAYOR'S OFFICE

City of Euclid
585 East 222nd St
Euclid, OH 44123

KIRSTEN HOLZHEIMER GAIL, MAYOR

Hello I am Kirsten Holzheimer Gail, and I'm currently serving my second term as Mayor of Euclid, Ohio.

Euclid has been my home all my life. I grew up here, got married here, and with my husband Kevin, I raised my family here. As I was growing up, many people who were in my position chose to leave the city. But many others chose to stay. Like any city, Euclid has its problems. However, I believe the solutions lie with people who are committed to making this community the best place to live, work, and raise children. Euclid has people like that living in every neighborhood in this city.

When I initially announced my candidacy for Mayor in October 2014, I expressed that my whole focus has always been – and will continue to be – strengthening our neighborhoods. Without strong neighborhoods, we will not have a vibrant city. The greatest cities in the world have engaged communities, and I believe in leveraging the power that can come from the efforts of committed individuals – people who care.

I am committed to helping my fellow residents to participate as fully as they wish in the life of our community. In order to encourage people to step up and to become more active, you must build trust as a leader. The process of building that trust includes building relationships among people who have a lasting commitment to the community. I plan to continue to build that trust by demonstrating that I remain ever committed to Euclid and its people.

Yes, I have lived and worked here my entire life, but that alone doesn’t demonstrate my commitment. I want to continue to serve the community in new ways. As Council President back in 2008, and a Councilwoman for Ward 1 before that, I worked with my fellow council members in a collaborative process representing the people. My goal as Mayor remains to take that collaboration a step further and directly involve as many of the people we represent in the process of making Euclid into a world-class place to live and work.

The legislative branch is a fantastic place to create policies and ideas. My goal as Mayor is to put those ideas into action. I want to hear your ideas as well.

I believe that together, committed individuals can make a difference to move Euclid forward. I hope you'll join me in this commitment to making Euclid a place we can all be proud to call home.
