Job Title: Light Equipment Operator - Public Lands

Department: Parks and Recreation

Status: Classified   Nonexempt - FLSA  


Job Summary: Responsible for the repair and maintenance of the City's parks and cemetery facilities usingthe equipment and materials  available to the department. Works under the immediate supervision of the Manager of Parks and Recreation Maintenance.


Job Duties:

  • Operate pickup and dump trucks, front end loaders, tractors, mowers, buckets, and stump grinders & repair maintenance of the Department's parks and cemetery.
  • Safety check the equipment used on a regular basis.
  • Assist in the grounds maintenance of city facilities.
  • Plant trees, shrubs, grass, flowers as directed by the manager and/or the foreman.
  • Locates grave site and mark off area to be excavated.
  • Dig grave to specified depth, using pick and shovel, or back-hoe.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Work Environment: Heavy work (exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally); indoor/outdoor. Subject to hazards: moving mechanical parts, electric current, water, chemicals; atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases; occasional exposure to below 32-degree temperatures, noise, and vibration. Physical activity: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.


Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent. Commercial driver’s license. Experienced operator ofHigh Ranger bucket truck, portable power saw,  extension pole, etc. Ability to: express and exchange ideas and instructions accurately and clearly.


Pay Rate: $27.63/hour


Full-Time: 40 hours/week

First Shift, Monday – Sunday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm

Second Shift, Monday – Sunday, 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm
